         I feel sad today that I am compelled to write this post regarding
continued
public distrust of online marketers.

I would be happy not to even bring the subject up but it begs mention…again.

                  I should begin by saying first that no-one is immune from scrutiny by the FTC or “authorities” as it were. Maybe with reason.

Specifically, online marketers and experts and gurus and those who tout the greatest thing since sliced bread for generating income from an online business.

This is not to say that there aren’t real and legitimate methods of doing so,

…the perception is different

…when the inexperienced buyer loses money. It doesn’t matter how many disclaimers are rendered or warnings are rendered or policies are divulged.

Once heard becomes “word”.

                            In the infancy of Internet Marketing, there were a few undesirables who touted grand (financial), achievements with little proof to support it. They didn’t last long. The industry has now examined every possible “get out of jail” card to play that mostly skirts the law while remaining compliantto whatever degree.

Unfortunately, a needy public doesn’t see it that way and Internet Marketing offers begs our absolute focus to be transparent and willingly genuine…even if it hurts.

I have often said that a gullibule public can be swayed in the most genuine way possible and thank you for it. I have stated,

      “If I stood on a street corner and said that “I say a spaceship from another planet” with great enthusiasm and unwavering-belief, that I could get five or more people to say they say it too!” You know it’s true, don’t you?

               That’s what I mean. There are enough people who say they heard it and they will believe it too. The news media would report it and then it becomes, “word”. 

I could then write and self-publish a book about it and be on FOX, CNN or NBC in a flash. I could build a following and command a sect in less than two weeks.
All for…naught.

You see, we, everyone, the public are needy.
We are all looking for a better way, an easier way to escape the grind, demanding bosses, overwhelming debt, crushing workloads and unforgiving, soul-crushing, mind-numbing, unappreciative employment without recognition or reward.

Aren’t we. When someone comes along and promises a better way, we immediately latch on to the MLM, or whatever model, that sounds electric and possible.

When in fact, it never comes to fruition. Does it? Tell me you haven’t been there.

In my experience, I have sold:

  • Soap
  • Vitamins
  • Potato Chips (really!)
  • Insurance
  • Pots and Pans
  • Perfume
  • Medical Equipment
  • Legal Services
  • Encyclopedias (really!)
  • Software
  • Magazines
  • Printing
  • Self-Publishing
  • Newspaper and Magazine Ads
  • Real Estate
  • Remodeling
  • Concrete
  • …AND MANY MORE! [Swear on a Bible]

Were they profitable? Some were, to a degree and others more. Most LESS.

To sum this up, the industry demands more of us in the industry. Transparency, engagement, honesty and proof. I continue to “sell” a better way. The reality is that it can be done…just not by everyone who tries.

I’ve sold the membership-continuity-subscription concept and model for 20-years. To over 10,000 people. How many success stories?

Less than 20! OMG! WTF!?

The excuses…It gathers dust. Never opened or never tried. Too hard. Not enough help or support. Can’t understand it. WHATEVER!! I can’t guarantee one’s stupidity, ignorance, laziness or nonchalaunt attitudes.

Here’s the disclaimer…Lol.
You are not ME.
I don’t know how little or much you know.
I don’t know how much experience you have.
I don’t know how much money you can invest.
I don’t know how you expect to use what you learn.
I don’t know how when you will actually put the model in motion.
I don’t know how if you will ever take action.
I don’t know how what results you expect.
I don’t know how what discipline you have.

I don’t know anything about you, SO HOW THE HELL CAN I GUARANTEE YOU WILL EVER BE A SUCCESS? Likely, Never.

Truth be told, I have given people the keys to the city, a wheelbarrow full of gold…and they still bitch because I don’t unlock the doors or carry it to their car for them…and you know I am right don’t you?

I am living proof that it works, it can work (for some).
I have lost $Millions and made $Millions.
There are few who can do it and prove it. I can.

    I am exceptional. You may not be.
    If so, don’t be taken and buy in thinking it is a “get rich” opportunity and then realize that you are the failure you hate the most. You may be a loser.

All this to say, there are still many Internet Marketers that have your back. I would like to be counted as one of the best, the model for genuine engagement and support. It remains to be seen.
